Grandma's Peach Cobbler

When I need a dessert in a pinch, I usually make one of two things- brownies or peach cobbler. I usually always have the ingredients on hand & it's easy. Here's my great grandma's peach cobbler recipe- I don't know if she made it up or got it from another source- either way it's cobblerlicious!

INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1 can sliced peaches  (or fresh)
pinch salt
cinnamon & sugar (optional)
11 x 7 baking pan

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the stick of butter in the pan in the oven. Keep an eye on it. Meanwhile, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt). Next, mix in the milk. Pour this mixture over the melted butter (do not stir).

melted butter with batter poured over
Drain the peaches. Spoon the peaches on top of the mixture. Sprinkle w/ cinnamon & sugar (optional)

peaches spooned on top of batter
w/ cinnamon & sugar sprinkles
Bake @ 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. I bake mine at least 35-40 minutes because I like it a little crunchy in the corners :) The batter will rise up around the peaches as it bakes. Enjoy warm with some whipped cream or ice cream....

You may even break into song- Just a scoop full of ice cream helps the cobbler go down.... (well, I said you "may" )

*Note- if you want to use a 9 x 13 pan, I would double the recipe & use a large can of peaches.

Enjoy!

10 Lemony Sweet Treats

Here are some yummy treats (with a hint of lemon) that I'd like to make in the very near future. I haven't tried them yet, but they look tasty to me. I gathered these from various websites & blogs. Each picture has a direct link underneath (It doesn't look like it, but the link is there when you drag the mouse under the pic). You can also check them out on my Pinterest board of Sweet Stuff.  Enjoy! Let me know how they turn out ...... if you start baking before I do!

Grandma often doubled this recipe, because we all wanted a second helping.

A spoon full of sugar helps the lemonade go down...

So we have been watching Mary Poppins at our house a lot this week! Nothing like a good quality movie with a simple sweet message. Oh, I'm not going to tell you- you'll have to watch it again yourself! AND while you are watching it you can enjoy a nice glass of sugar filled lemonade, especially during this spring-type weather in the middle of winter! Here's a recipe I borrowed from a friend, though I don't know the original source. I find it quite yummy. I'm sure you could add more or less sugar to your liking :) Enjoy!

Orange Lemonade
1 cup Country Time Lemonade mix
1 cup sugar
1 orange
1 gallon pitcher

* Stir together lemonade mix, sugar, and water in gallon pitcher (fill pitcher). Cut the orange in half. Squeeze the juice of one half the orange into the lemonade. Slice the other half of orange and add to the lemonade. Stir again. Enjoy!  Let me know what you think.
* Just another bit of random information: 16 tablespoons of sugar = 1 cup
